This latest revamped home comes in from South Africa and conjured up and completed by Nico van der Meulen Architects it is both modern and inviting in its outlook. The revamp project has been dubbed as ‘House The’ (Yup does not seem a very creative name but we can live with it) and the extensive remodeling was done on the ground floor as many of the internal walls were done away with to create one large and unobstructed flowing space.

One of the best things about smart renovation of an old home is that you not only get to have a brand new home that suits your latest needs and meets to your current taste but it also allows you to keep the spirit of the original home intact and the memories (if any) attached with it alive. And that is precisely what FINNE Architects have tried to accomplish with this gorgeous home set among secluded woods about 25 miles north of Seattle.

The cantilevered roofs along with the lavish use of floor-to-ceiling glass windows ensure that there is plenty of natural ventilation along with some lovely views of the green that lay outside. While the common areas and the sitting space provides for some lovely views the bedrooms offer contrasting privacy which ensure that you have the best of both worlds.

The designed by studio Bohlin Cywinski Jackson uses many natural elements which make it a part of the western oaks Douglas fir and the lush green yards that are part of this lovely creek. The 10200 square foot home seems to use mostly wood to ensure that the aesthetics of the interiors remain modern and yet ‘natural’ at the same time.

Researchers and designers based in London and at the Technical University in Munich are responsible for the design of m-ch which mirrors the scale of a Japanese tea house. Functional and sleek the micro compact home makes efficient living a reality.

That does not mean the indoors are bland by any means whatsoever. In fact the home itself compliments the surroundings wonderfully well and the extensive use of glass ensures that you have ample views of both the reservoir itself and some lovely landscape of the San Gabriel Mountains.
